MW3

get both. I’m getting like 5 games in that one week of November. I’m going to be broke :)
Latest Question:
I would like to check out MGS4; but I would prefer to catch up on the series first. Where should I begin?
Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection
or
Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection
I am new to PS3 so I have no idea on which direction to go. I rather just pick up one of this titles and not have to check out both.
Thanks!

While your waiting for the HD, find away to play the ps1 game, like using an emu on the PC then when your done buy the HD, the HD is great but too bad doesn’t have the first game…then when done with all of them including the 4,wait for rising or 5 :) that is what I’m doing now, FYI MGS4 was the first ps3 game I played and finished :p

If you own a PS3, it is better for you to get the HD collection when it comes out this November, if you are doing so, make sure to get Metal Gear Solid from PS store. The HD Collection will contain 5 games; Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (actually its upgraded version, MGS2: Substance), MGS3: Snake Eater (again, its upgraded version, MGS3: Subsistence, this one will also include the games that started the franchise, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake) and finally MGS: Peace Walker (originally for the PSP), these 3 MGS games will have trophies.
If you do not own a PS3, but a PS2, then get the Essential Collection (its only for PS2, those discs won’t play on PS3 slim models), if you manage to find it in stores, it contains the games Metal Gear Solid (a PlayStation 1 game), MGS2: Substance and MGS3: Subsistence (this version lacks the Metal Gear games [MG and MG2:SS])
The order to play the games is by its release date:
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid
MGS2:SoL
MGS3:SE
MGS: Portable Ops (PSP exclusive)
MGS4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3 exclusive)
MGS: Peace Walker
There is a MGS game yet to be released, probably coming out next year, its MGS: Rising, it will take place between MGS2 and MGS4.
You can also emule MGS1 on a PC if you’re not planning to buy it.
